Applied Engineering: MEXTYPSA’s Expertise Featured at the MIDAS Experts Webinar
Our Structural Engineering Technical Manager, Engineer Alberto Mejía, had an outstanding participation in the MIDAS Experts Webinar: Road and Railway Bridges, organized by MIDAS, a leading software in the field of structural engineering.
His presentation focused on “Expansion of an Existing Vehicular Bridge: Assessment, Strengthening, and Structural Connection”, where he shared his practical experience and the challenges of modernizing key infrastructure for mobility. Drawing on a real case in Coahuila, Mexico, he explained the process of assessing the load-bearing capacity of an existing bridge that was expanded from 2 to 4 lanes, while keeping railway operations in service.
During his session, Eng. Mejía highlighted key aspects such as:
- Structural assessment of a bridge in operation, identifying its current condition through capacity analysis and failure criteria, as well as the challenges of intervening in active infrastructure.
- Definition of reinforcement plans and structural adjustments, focused at ensuring safety, functionality, and durability of the structure.
- Strategies to minimize traffic disruption, ensuring that the expansion was carried out with the least possible impact on users.
Eng. Mejía’s participation underscores the capabilities of our professionals, who are recognized as experts in infrastructure development. On MEXTYPSA, we have the experience and technical capacity to take on complex projects — from evaluation through to the execution of safe and effective structural solutions.
